Check-out these Award-Winning Books!

February 19, 2018

The American Library Association announced the top books written for children and young adults last Monday, and I wanted to highlight all the great books that were chosen to receive the most anticipated honors, The Newbery and Caldecott medals!

The Newbery medal is awarded yearly for the most outstanding contribution to children's literature. This year's winner is Hello, Universe written by Erin Entrada Kelly! There were also three books that were given Newbery honors, these were Crown: An Ode to the Fresh Cut by Derrick Barnes, Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds, and Piecing Me Together by Renee Watson.

The Caldecott medal is awarded to the most distinguished American picture book for young children. This years' winner was the wordless picture book, Wolf in the Snow by Matthew Cordell! Four Caldecott Honor Books were also named: Big Cat, Little Cat by Elisha Cooper, Crown: An Ode to the Fresh Cut by Derrick Barnes, A Different Pond by Thi Bui, and Grand Canyon by Jason Chin.

All these books will be available here at Benson soon!
