While we aren't offering much in the way of children's and teens events during the month of August, we are going to be hosting some S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) workshops from 2-4 on August 8th, 9th, and 10th.
These workshops will be led by Miss Ishika Saxena, a junior who developed the workshops for her Gold Award project. The Gold Award is the highest achievement a Girl Scout can receive in Girl Scouting.
The workshops are designed to promote S.T.E.M to girls entering 4th, 5th, and 6th grade. Each workshop will expose girls to different fields of science in a fun and exciting format. The girls will have the chance to participate in mini science experiments while learning about the achievements of several female scientists. Miss Saxena believes that by familiarizing girls with science fields, and encouraging them to pursue S.T.E.M. related careers, girls will grow up understanding that they have the ability to change the world.
Complimentary donuts and juice will be provided at the workshops. Because supplies are limited to a group of 14 children, we ask that parents sign their children up for these workshops at the front desk. You can sign your child up for all three days, or just one.
